Windsor's Cirillo Theatre Presents "Explosion of Energy" on 45th Anniversary

In it's 45th year, Windsor's acclaimed Cirillo Summer Theatre is bringing local stage production into the new age, performing Lin-Manuel Miranda's "In the Heights" over two weekends this month.

Far from the average musical, "In the Heights" is "an explosion of energy," explains Christian Torres, who plays the lead, Usnavi.

"If you're looking for actors standing up on stage reciting lines like cardboard cutouts, this show's not for you," Torres added.

Set in New York City's Washington Height's neighborhood, "In the Heights" is a celebration of three generations of music, of community, of color.

The 2008 Tony Award-winning musical presents the story of a community on the cusp of change, the hopes and dreams of its residents and the challenges they face from day to day, according to director Susan J. Vinick.

The show features choreography by Kristyn Fontanella set to Latin rhythms directed by Carlos Silva an Justin Brown.

The musical will run on August 2,3,8,9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. at L.P. Wilson Community Center.
