BBQ Bear’s Smoke House Grand Opening Authentic Kansas City BBQ Restaurant to Open in Connecticut
Jamie “THE BEAR” McDonald, Competitive Eater and Chef, is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of BBQ Bear’s Smoke House, an authentic wood smoked Kansas City style BBQ restaurant, on Saturday, June 8 from 11:00 AM-8:00 PM at 55 Palisado Ave in Windsor, next to Bart’s Drive-In and The Beanery Bistro.
“I am thrilled to bring my passion and love for Kansas City BBQ to Windsor and frankly anyone who loves good authentic BBQ will appreciate we have here.” said Jamie McDonald, owner of BBQ Bears Smokehouse.
The new location will feature; eat-in, take-out and catering services and shares its new home with the notorious Bart’s Drive-In and The Beanery Bistro.
“What goes better with ice cream than great BBQ? Jamie’s already has a lot of notoriety as the World’s #1 Independent Competitive Eater and I have a strong feeling that his BBQ is also going to put him in the national spotlight as well”, said Donald Trinks, owner of Bart’s Drive-In.
The Grand opening will feature BBQ, of course, a macaroni and cheese eating contest at 2:00 PM, as well as live music, featuring Steve Piper and the Bear’s Blues Band from 3-7 PM, great raffle prizes and more!

About Jamie “THE BEAR” McDonald:
Born and raised in "The BBQ capital of the world" Kansas City, Missouri, Jamie McDonald spent his high school years working for one of the best BBQ restaurants in the city. Upon graduating from school, Jamie joined the Navy and in his travels across the U.S. and abroad, was always on the lookout for great bar-b-que. Much to his dismay, nothing lived up to the BBQ he grew up eating back home. This forced Jamie to rely on his skills he picked up while working in high school. From wood and meat selection to his homemade sauces and rubs, Jamie has near perfected his craft. Jamie is also an independent competitive eater who has won over 50 eating competitions across the country. He was most recently named by All Pro Eating the “#1 Independent Competitive Eater 2012” and “Competitive Eating Rookie of the Year 2012”. Jamie’s competitive eating have been featured in ESPN, The Huffington Post and The New York Daily News. Jamie is also a natural bodybuilder and he documents his diet and workout regimen on The Huffington Post as well as his own website. He currently resides in Windsor with his wife, Cheryl, who co-owns Bear’s BBQ and two children.
