Two Windsor Residents among 11 Students Inducted Into the Northwest Catholic Tri-M Music Honor Society

West Hartford – Windsor residents Amaia Fernandez ’15 and Cameron Young ’15 were among the 11 students inducted into the Northwest Catholic chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society on May 22nd. Daniel Kowalczyk ’11, the first president of Tri-M at Northwest Catholic, was the guest speaker.

To be invited into membership in Tri-M, students must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average, be nominated by their peers, and demonstrate proficiency on their instrument or with their voice. Students should excel in music, and are required to give at least ten hours of service to the community each year.

Kowalczyk spoke about the role music has played in his life. He said his involvement in the music program at Northwest Catholic “was the greatest decision I could have made at the time.” Daniel added that music “shaped me into a person I would never want to change.”

Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’17 is now under way. For more information, contact Maryann Lacouture (860-236-4221, x140 or mlacouture@nwcath.org).
