Northwest Catholic Athlete to Run Track at UConn

West Harford – Northwest Catholic senior Jared Delane of Windsor has announced his intention to run track at the University of Connecticut next year. He is the 15th member of the Class of 2013 to commit to a high-level collegiate athletic program.

Jared was a varsity member of three Class S state championship winning teams – the 2010 outdoor track team, the 2011-12 indoor track team, and the 2012 outdoor track team. He was named team MVP for indoor track in 2012 and 2013 and for outdoor track in 2011 and 2013 as well as being named All-New England in the 300m for indoor track in 2013. Jared has also been named All-State in every season he has run track, both indoor and outdoor, earning All-State recognition in 11 events over the past four years. He also holds school records for the 200m, 400m, and 600m in indoor track and the 4x100 relay team, 200m, and 400m hurdles in outdoor track.

“It has been a pleasure to coach Jared throughout his high school career, as he has developed into one of the best runners to come through the track and field program at Northwest Catholic,” said NWC track coach Patrick Williamson ’99. “Jared has approached his roles as a student, athlete, team captain and member of the school community with hard work and dedication. I am so proud of what he’s accomplished in high school and wish Jared the best of luck as he continues his career at UCONN.”

Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’17 is now under way. For more information, contact Maryann Lacouture (860-236-4221, x140 or mlacouture@nwcath.org).
