I am most definitely my father's daughter.  I grew up in New Britain, on a healthy alphabet diet of NFL, MLB and NASCAR.  I learned to enjoy boxing.  Weekends would see Dad and me spending time at local tracks like Tinty's, Thompson and Stafford Motor Speedway, as well as visiting Connecticut and Massachusetts amusement parks,

Dad never pushed me to be an Indians or Browns fan and I never understood his affinity for Cleveland.  I found the Yankees and Jets on my own and have remained a lifelong fan of both teams.

Writing seemed to come naturally for me.  I never minded the endless writing assignments we received in Catholic school, and when I could write about sports, I like the assignment even more.  I also found that I really liked the study of grammar.

My Bachelors and Masters degrees are from Central Connecticut State University, in Secondary Education/English.

Major influences on my writing career have come from Elisa McCarthy, my favorite high school English teacher; Bart Fisher, former sports editor of the New Britain Herald, who took a chance hiring me as a freelance sports reporter; Paul Burton, former sports editor for Imprint, Inc., who started out as my editor and became a good friend; and my mother, who was my biggest cheerleader.  How I loved watching her read a game story or feature I had written.

I have enjoyed watching my brother play football for Newington High and UConn, as well as watching him develop from a special teams coordinator to the defensive coordinator for Newington High.  Some of my time is spent proudly watching my two godchildren as they discover baseball, football, wrestling, soccer, softball and dance.
