Well the best I can tell is the CEO's are all waiting for the Governor to give them ALL millions andRead More millions of OUR money to run their businesses as he did for the First 5...make that First I lost count. Business needs employees, employees need to be able to afford to live here. You cant afford to live in CT due to Democratic spending.

The average was $1.85 when Bush left office. Are we supposed to applaud this new average?

I am rather tired of hearing that the reason we are broke is because the health benefits, stateRead More pensions and so on are the cause of the states finacial situation. When are people going to realize that the over all state budget is to blame. So with that being said we need to look at who keeps passing these budgets. Ignoring that cancer and not doing anything about it is equivalent to going to get your vehicle fixed and the mechanic says the expense of repairing your vehicle is so high because your insurance is expensive. I have sat silent for many years because years ago things were not that great either but I said give this liberal way of thinking a chance. Now the proof is in the economy. It is all in the Windsor dump. Ohh yeah thats going away too. Imagin that. We need to as Ct citizens start looking at this seriously and start changing our way of thinking. With that maybe we can start rolling back to an actual form of Republic we are supposed to be. Not this County Government I keep hearing about. If it is sold like, smells like or distructive like the old Regionalism theme then it must be Regionalism. Which means we do not want nor need it. I am not intelligent but I have learned how to pick through these so called experts words of advice that they are nothing more than a salesman for the same kinda government that got us here to begin with. So either I am smarter than I think or they are not as smart as they are advertised to us as being.

It is interesting to see that we have been on a downward spiral for the past 25 years. The State ofRead More Connecticut has over this period voted consistently in one liberally oriented direction. Is it possible it has created this “unfriendly to business” environment mentioned in the article? In the same period we read the achievement gap has widened and it would seem that ALL students are doing poorly. Maybe it’s the same liberally oriented idea of throwing money at something and hoping it will improve the results. It does not seem to be working. Maybe it is the belief that big government is good and big business is bad, VS. a more conservative belief that both are bad. I just think big government is worse. With big business, I, as a consumer can vote with my pocket book, thus letting my feelings and money benefit, or hinder an enterprise. In the big government world I can’t refuse to pay my taxes. Instead I must pay them period. I can vote out those that hurt me through the policies, laws and regulations they promote, but too few see things the way I do, unfortunately. I can make the ultimate vote and that is with my feet, I can move to another State as many are starting to do. My major fear is to the Teachers and other State funded retirees. Some minor pain today is better that the whole lot of pain that surely will be paid tomorrow. Remember what your mom or dad said to you as a kid, take your medicine now with 1 minute of yuck, or suffer for days of fever, pain and feeling bad.

I use to love to hang out at Bart's. That is when life was innocent but fun. Where have those daysRead More gone.

Another sign of spring is when the Farmington River floods Bart's famous parking lot.

Oh good...the UN being serviced by a Windsor company...right next to the UN Styled SustainableRead More Village on Day Hill.

I was really happy to see that CHS had a location in Windsor, given that it is a great resource forRead More individuals directly within that neighborhood. I've used the CHS services in Hartford, and it would have been helpful to have something closer : )

Thank you, Michaela for being critical! There's a difference there, and it counts. - Julian

Hi - not to be critical, but I believe that the business that opened on Windsor Ave., toward theRead More Wilson section, is actually Community Health Services (http://www.chshartford.org). CHS is not directly affiliated with Community Health Resources, which, as reported, works with children, families, and adults to achieve recovery from mental health and/or substance related disorders. CHS offers integrated healthcare, including adult and adolescent internal medicine, dental care, optometry, pediatrics, podiatry, women's health, along with behavioral health (mental health substance related disorders).

The size of the building is only dwarfed by the Corruption of the state and town goverment. EveryoneRead More should do their own investigation of this project financed with your tax dollars.

It appears to me after attending various Planning & Zoning meetings, the commissioners are soRead More scared of being sued by developers, there's not much chance they'll ever not approve any applications that come along. Additionally, they've got citizen's buffaloed into thinking all economic development leads to low taxes. However, as Mr. Williams points out, decreased property values increase taxes for everyone no matter where in town you live. I agree with Mrs. Karkowski's suggestion that work on altering zoning practices needs to take place. However, zoning changes take people to attend zoning meetings and question things. So, far I think there's only a handful of people that even read the Patch so we're all singing to the Choir as the saying goes.

I realy feel for the residents. Every time I drive by it feels more and more like a prison facility.Read More Windsor , as I see it right now, does not put the resident first. Only the $$$$$$$$$$! I feel we need to change our current zoning practices.

Guess what folks, if this proposed Bill gets passed you'll pay. The way it works is if you switchRead More to natural gas to get away from proposed oil and propane tax, in a matter of time you'll find yourself facing natural gas taxes. It's all about supply and demand.

Did I miss something, Joanne? Has the original post to which you were referring been taken down?Read More I'm sure that most of us would understand what was intended without your public correction. I hope that people can post on this site without fear of reprisal from the Marquis St. Evremonde of Spelling and Word Usage. Lol!

A lit-up Marquis above the theater building would be an amazing sight!! mar·quis [mahr-kwis,Read More mahr-kee; French mar-kee] Show IPA noun, plural mar·quis·es, mar·quis [-keez; French -kee] Show IPA . a nobleman ranking next below a duke and above an earl or count. I think you meant to write marquee.

Sue, I'm not sure about sound boards, but there will certainly be permanent lighting — and I'mRead More told they'll be of superior quality and functionality — to enhance performances planned for the space. As far as fees and such, I'm sure that's something that will be ironed out as the opening date nears. - Julian
