Advocating for Increased Voter Turnout

Learn about WindsorCTVotes.

WindsorCTVotes Blog

“Blogging is not writing.  It’s graffiti with punctuation” - Alan Krumwiede (Jude Law), Contagion.

Sharing this information does not fulfill a long held desire to become a blogger. It does, however, want to avoid becoming what the Contagion character describes.

WindsorCTVotes is passionate about its mission to advocate for increased voter participation and civic engagement in politics, locally and nationally.  The organization wants to address issues of low voter turnout in Windsor and wants to encourage all Windsor citizens to partake in the voting process.

We invite non-partisan discussion and partnership in tackling this as an issue in our community and in our country.  One initiative we have promoted is a change in voting day for the next referendum.

Voting on the bond for the high school roof will occur on Saturday, March 10th.  There will be one polling place, Town Hall, 9 am – 8 pm. We believe voting Saturday has the potential to increase the numbers of citizens voting and encourage all Windsor residents to do so. (Have you ever wondered why we traditionally vote on Tuesdays? Have you ever felt that week-day voting was inconvenient as you tried to juggle other schedules around it?  Have you ever said “I’ll vote at the end of my work day” and found yourself just too tired to do so?) .

We hope that a Saturday vote will solve some of those dilemmas.

If you have ideas regarding voting and ways to make that process easier or would like to be a part of this group, please contact us as WindsorCTVotes@comcast.net. We are also on Facebook. Please go to the page, like it to join or start a conversation.  We would love to hear from you.
