It is time to vote for a new day.

Windsor Republican Board of Education Candidates.

The Windsor Republicans have put forth a strong slate of candidates for Board of Education that deserve your vote November 5th.  We have newcomers Michaela Fissel, Melissa Rizzo Holmes and former Town Councilor Ronald Eleveld with incumbents Cristina Santos and Paul Panos.  You have read about them here on Windsor.Patch this past week.

This year Windsor voters have a clear choice - to vote for a positive change in the control of the Board of Education or to accept the mediocrity and rancor of the status quo we have all witnessed.  Over the past several decades education in Windsor has suffered a slow and constant trajectory down, from one of the best districts in the state to one of the worst.  As stated by Democratic Councilor McKenney, (1:37) our schools got to the point where they are under Democratic control of the Board of Education.   The status quo is failing our children.

This term the Board of Education has shown a level of dysfunction we have not seen before. The disrespect shown one another regardless of political affiliation is shameful, and embarrassing.  The discourse has been troublesome, if not vicious. Many times proper decorum has gone out the window.  Reasonable discussion of issues has been cut short, or shut down.  The application of proper procedure and adherence to the rules have been set aside. The focus has turned entirely to pushing personal agendas, playing party politics, and away from education.  The status quo is failing your children.

The voters have a choice – continue down this path by voting for the status quo, the same five people currently sitting on the Board who have gotten us to where we are today, or vote for new voices, new ideas, A NEW DAY. Vote for the future of your kids, my kids, our kids, for the future of Windsor, for A NEW DAY.

What is our plan?

  • We need to use more homogeneous grouping to provide instruction to all students at their highest individual level.
  • We need to adhere strictly to policies and procedures at the Board level.
  • We need to have clear, defined and explained expectations of students, faculty and parents.
  • We need to communicate better with our community.
  • We need to implement proper decorum at the schools including strict adherence to discipline, manners, respect and rules.
  • We need to make sure each child promoted has the requisite skill set for their benefit.
  • We need to build on successes that will close the achievement gap.
  • We have ideas and a willingness to create a positive school environment that will benefit all of our students.

The voters can make a difference November 5th.  You can vote for a new day by voting for Michaela Fissel, Melissa Rizzo Holmes, Ronald Eleveld, Cristina Santos, and Paul Panos on Row A.
