Create Your Own Winter Wonderland, Intro to CrossFit, Music, and More in Windsor This Weekend

Create Your Own Winter Wonderland
Saturday, 10 a.m. - Winter is officially here! Families can visit hands-on exhibits and then make their own winter wonderland to take home. Participants will be creating snowflakes out of all different types of crafting supplies and a variety of materials. Free on-site parking is available. Intro to CrossFit
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - Stop by Metacomet CrossFit and Yoga to try a CrossFit class. The class is open to abilities and fitness levels. 18 and older, please.

Nutrition and Detox Workshop
Saturday, 11 a.m. - Learn how to detox your diet and eat clean food! This class will be taught by Iwona, owner of Love and Peas in Tolland and a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. Learn how to detox using natural juices and foods, and learn to prepare delicious real foods. Start nourishing yourself. Winter Concert
Saturday, 7 p.m. - End the holiday season on a joyful note. Join the South Windsor Community Chorus for its annual winter concert, “Joys of Winter.” This program will offer a range of musical experiences, from the sacred to the silly, from seasonal favorites to surprising renditions of familiar pieces. Start off 2014 with some magical, musical memories. A reception will follow the concert. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Greater Hartford Handel's Messiah Community Sing

Sunday, 4 p.m. - This annual event, which features the singing of the “Christmas portion” and “Hallelujah Chorus,”attracts more than 100 participating singers in the chorus as well as a full audience to watch and enjoy. The solo work is performed by a number of outstanding Connecticut Soloists. The sing is led by Organist/Director Bob Gilbert. Singers are asked to arrive at around 3 p.m. and be seated by 3:30 p.m. for instructions and warm up. Singers can bring their own score, or scores will be provided as needed. There is free admission for everyone and there is no need to register ahead of time.  Singers are encouraged to wear holiday colors, or “come as you are.” Selections by the Trinity Ringers Handbell Choir, as well as a carol sing for the audience, will be included in the program. A finger food reception follows the concert. There is plenty of free and convenient parking and childcare is available.
