Help Keep Windsor Green

There's more than one opportunity to help out on Earth Day.

Earth Day is Fri., April 22, and while the day is aimed at preserving nature and raising awareness world-wide, perhaps the biggest impact will be made locally. Windsor is providing a couple of events this weekend to highlight the importance of our environment and preserve its beauty.

Community Cleanup

Cleaning a town is hard work, and what better way to do it than as a community? Friday afternoon community members will convene behind the Town Hall before the cleanup commences.

Gloves and bags will be provided for all who participate and the total amount of waste collected will be weighed before being transported for disposal or recycling at the landfill.

There's perhaps no better example of Windsor's efforts to increase environmental awareness than the preservation and development of Northwest Park. On Sat., April 23, the park will hold a special Earth Day Celebration.

The day will kick off at 10 a.m., will include a family nature walk, Connecticut birds of prey, environmental children's games, musical entertainment and will feature a visit from an arctic gray wolf. Best of all, the celebration is free.
