Boys Hoops Update

The post-season fate of most high school basketball teams has already been determined but not so in Tolland. The Eagles have had a tumultuous season, punctuated by a forfeit after a , but now need a win in one of their last two games to qualify. Tolland plays E.O. Smith Monday and Fermi-Enfield, which has struggled through a difficult season, on Friday.

The interesting thing about Tolland is that if it managed to qualify for the Class M tournament it’s possible the team could win at least two games before needing to pull an upset.

The necessary vagaries of the tournament seeding process (official pairing will be announced March 2) make determining possible opponents difficult but the Eagles will likely be one of four (or possibly only two) teams involved in a first-round game. After that, there is a real chance they would meet a highly-seeded team that plays a majority of its games against smaller schools.

One thing is for certain, few teams will want to see the Eagles, especially on a night when Andrew Roussey and Tyler Fortin are shooting well.
