Lady Warriors Exit Lacrosse Playoffs Early

An early New Canaan lead was too much to overcome for the Warriors.

In as spirited a game as you'll see during this playoff season, the Windsor Girls lacrosse team fell to the Lady Rams of New Canaan 17-5 in the opening round of the Class M state playoffs in New Canaan.

New Canaan, led by Olivia Hompe (4 goals) went on an eight goal scoring spree in as many minutes to gain a lead that proved to be insurmountable for Windsor.

Still, the Warriors managed to regroup and end the half on a positive note with a goal by Meagan Self with 15 seconds remaining. Following a spirited half time speech by coach Marci Mullady encouraging the team to not to give up and to "leave it all out on the field" the Warriors continued with momentum holding the Rams to 5 second half points while scoring four goals (Jamie Wakefield scored three), and playing until the final whistle with a score by Kathleen Wenner with one second left to play.
