CRIS Radio To Hold 15th Annual Golf Classic
CRIS Radio, a 33-year-old nonprofit and the state’s only radio-reading service for the blind and print-handicapped, will hold its15th Annual Golf Classic on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Manchester Country Club, 305 South Main St., Manchester.
CRIS (Connecticut Radio Information System) broadcasts news and information featured in more than 70 newspapers and magazines for adults and children who are blind, or learning, physically, emotionally or intellectually disabled and unable to read printed material.

Lunch, dinner, 18 holes of golf and a cart are included in the player fee of $150. Those who register before July 31 will save $15. A scramble format will begin the tournament with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Non-golfers are invited to attend the buffet dinner, which costs $50.
Scot Haney, co-host of “Better Connecticut” and meteorologist on WFSB Channel 3 will emcee the event and serve as auctioneer during the dinner.

Auction items will feature a Kindle Fire and an autographed basketball by University of Connecticut 2011 NCAA men’s
championship team, including an autograph by Kemba Walker, who was the second leading college basketball scorer in the United States at that time. Currently Walker plays with the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats.
John Casolo, a member of the United States Blind Golf Association whose members are blind or visually impaired, will participate in the tournament.
