Bear's Smokehouse Owner Shoots for Three World Records

Competing during Windsor's Community Night with the Rock Cats, Jaime "The Bear" McDonald looks to collect a few trophies while benefiting Windsor's Summer Sandwich program.

Jamie "The Bear" McDonald isn't just owner and chef at one of Windsor's newest restaurants (BBQ Bear's Smokehouse), he's also a competitive eater, and this weekend he's looking to break three world records.

The first attempt will come on Sat., July 13 when the Granby resident will try to consume ten pounds of pork under in ten minutes during Windsor's Community Night with the Rock Cats during the New Britain Rock Cats baseball game.

Just one day later, McDonald will compete in the National Caribbean Food Eating Championships in Middlebury, during which two competitions will be held: a beef patty contest and a bun and cheese contest.

"This weekend's events will be challenging, but I am ready to eat. I look forward to connecting with the community and hopefully taking home some more titles ad trophies," said McDonald.

A portion of proceeds from Saturday's game will benefit Windsor's "Summer Sandwich Program," which is run by the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank. The program provides free lunch for youth this summer.
