Windsor CMT, CAPT Scores Show Slight Improvement
Windsor's youngest students showed the greatest improvement on state standardized tests.
Recently released Connecticut Mastery (CMT) and Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) results show Windsor's students performing right around the state average.
The results also show a mixed bag of local student performance, with the percentage of students performing at proficiency or goal levels dropping and rising in various categories.
A notable bright spot for Windsor's scores can be found in the results of the district's youngest test takers.

A significantly higher percentage of grade 3 students, who would have been tested for the first time in 2012, performed at or above goal or proficiency levels.
In releasing the CMT and CAPT test scores for individual districts this year, the state Department of Education said that CMT scores — given to students in grades 3 through 8 — improved incrementally while CAPT performance — administered to 10th-graders and required for graduation — was mixed.

"While student performance increased in all content areas when compared to the CAPT baseline year of 2007, it decreased in some areas when compared to last year," the department said in a news release. "As compared to 2011, performance increased slightly in writing, remained relatively constant in science and reading, and decreased in mathematics."
