Over Shines Among Nation's Brightest Stars

The Windsor High junior recently solidified her place among the nation's top sprinters in the Brooks PR Invitational.

Windsor High Junior Sydnee Over recently traveled to Seattle to compete in the Brooks PR Invitational at the University of Washington's famed Dempsey Indoor Arena - a meet ESPN described as hosting a galaxy of hand-picked stars.

Over (who plays girls varsity basketball, but does not compete in indoor track at Windsor High) was not only hand-picked to run among the many rising stars on February 26, but she shone among the brightest, placing sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 55.31 seconds.

Thanks to her performance over the weekend, and winning the 400 meter race at the USATFNE at Harvard the weekend prior, Over is now ranked No. 7 in the country.

Over's accomplishment on the track come in the midst of a playoff run for the Lady Warriors, who will return to the basketball court on Saturday to face undefeated E.O. Smith in the second round of the Class L state tournament.

A leader on the hardwood, Over truly burst onto the national athletic scene last spring in track. On March 7 2011, she grabbed the sixth fastest 400 meter time with a time of 53.97, and was an integral part of the Warriors' two nationally-ranked relay teams.
