Windsor Survives RHAM, 27-6; Remains Unbeaten

The Warriors improve to 9-0 on the season.

Only up 7-6 at RHAM (Hebron) Saturday afternoon, Windsor found themselves unable to mound a significant offensive attack much of the mud-covered day, but they managed to scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second half to come away with a win, improving to 9-0 on the season.

On a day when quarterback Quinn Fleeting managed to post solid numbers, completeing 11 of 18 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns, it was assignment football, not necessarily turnovers, that plagued Windsor Saturday.

Windsor was unable to move the chains for much of the afternoon, even turning the ball over on downs on three consecutive possessions to start the second half.

In termes of assignments, the team took a step backwards, said coach Rob Fleeting.

"It's weird. We had a good week in practice, we had a very good week in practice. I'm dissapointed in our offensive line. Our offensive line provided no protection," he said.

"It's tough to do anything without your offensive line. We can't blame the field — the field was horrible — but, I mean, for what we do, and the way that we play, that type of condition is not going to help us."

The field at RHAM (4-4, 3-1) was a bit of a mud pit, Saturday, with large divets without.

"We're more of a pass-set team... that provides problems."

While it was tough for the passing game to be consistent, it was somewhat successful, particularly the short-pass game.

Windsor scored four times on the same play — a quick pass to the outside receiver that yeilded big yards each time. Ryheime Moore caught and scored on three, while Aaron Berardino caught and scored one.

Moore caught five balls for 180 yards and three touchdowns.

While the score does not tell how difficult of a win it really was, Fleeting said he can't complain much. "It's a win," he said.

It's the ninth consecutive win of the season for Fleeting's squad, which has remained undefeated to date. They are the only undefeated team in the CCC Division II, and one of two undefeated teams in the entire CCC, the other team being Conard.

Through nine wins, Windsor has ridden on the shoulders of a stout defense — a defense that has held offenses to fewer than two touchdowns per game, and has yeilded fewer than 100 yards of offense per game.

The Warriors (9-0, 5-0) will host Waterford (6-2, 2-2 ECC M) next Friday.
