Town Officials: Do Not Be Alarmed, Windsor Residents

Windsor officials are ensuring residents they need not be alarmed when sirens and emergency personnel, including a LifeStar helicopter, report to Windsor High School, Thursday.

All emergency response to the area is planned, an is part of a mock drill aimed at warning students about the dangers of drunk driving, according to town officials.

Town officials say a mock car accident will be staged at approximately 1 p.m. Students will play the part of victims in the drill, and will be wearing make up to give the appearance of injuries.

The drill is not open to the public, the town says.

Windsor Public Schools posted a notice to its website, as well.

According to the district, the drill is the result of a partnership with Windsor police, fire and the volunteer ambulance department. The Capital Area Substance Abuse Council is also involved.

The hope, the district says, is "students will have a better understanding of the harsh impact that poor decision making may have on their lives."
