Teachers of the Year Announced

Town hall council chambers were packed for the Sept. 17 board of education meeting. Yes, the board was scheduled to address the controversial excellence and equity study, but many were in attendance to hear something else: recognition of the district's teachers of the year.

Windsor High School's Chris Todd was announced as the district-wide teacher of the year. Todd, district staff revealed, has made it to the semi-finals of the state teacher of the year process. Todd is one of 15 Connecticut teachers being considered.

WHS Principal Russell Sills called Todd "One of the most amazing teachers I've ever worked with."

Each year, a committee from each school requests teachers and staff make nominations. From the nominations, the committee selects a teacher and a non-certified staff member for recognition as best in the building.
