Superintendent's Replacement Expected Monday

Superintendent Villar's last day in Windsor is October 30.

The Windsor board of education is scheduled to announce a replacement for Superintendent Jeffrey Villar, who is leaving to head an education reform group.

According to district documents, the board has scheduled a special meeting for the night of Oct. 7, during which members will vote on the appointment of an individual nominated for interim superintendent, as well as review recent Connecticut Mastery Test results and the district's improvement plan.

Should the nomination be approved by board vote, he or she will assume to position of interim superintendent and assume full responsibilities by the end of the month, as Villar's last day on the job is October 30.

Villar was hired by the board of education in November 2011. He assumed the role of superintendent the following spring, taking over for Interim Superintendent Ernest Perlini.

The board's special meeting on Oct. 7 is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in its board room located at L.P. Wilson.
