Superintendent to Make Budget Proposal Tuesday Night

Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Villar is scheduled to make the first budget proposal of his tenure in Windsor Tuesday night.

In the proposal, Villar is expected to outline the town's public education budget for fiscal year 2013-14, including specifics about changes to spending and state aid.

The superintendent's presentation will be immediately followed by a public forum, during which resident have the opportunity to gain further insight into the superintendent's proposal.

The public forum is one of several similar events aimed at providing residents with opportunities to learn about the budget proposal and become engaged in to process of budget adoption.

The budget will be presented to the board of education and then adopted at a later date.

The education budget operates as the largest portion of the town's budget, which must be approved by the town council before being sent to referendum for a town-wide vote of approval or disapproval.
