Superintendent Presents Focus Areas for Windsor Schools' Transformation

In his latest "News from the Superintendent" blog entry, Windsor Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeffrey Villar has taken the opportunity to identify three areas of improvement upon which the district will focus in the upcoming school year.

According to Villar, the district will concentrate on "curriculum development and implementation," implementing instructional best practices and ensuring Windsor's schools "maximize learning opportunities" while providing an educational component that is both supportive and "inclusive for all learners."

"The focus areas identified may appear to be mundane and lack the zest, flash and appeal that maybe [sic] associated with high power marketing campaigns designed to sell solutions to problems, however they are at their core transformative," wrote Villar.

According to Villar, the district is also making gains with respect to teacher performance.

The district, he wrote, is participating in the Connecticut System for Educator Evaluation and Development (SEED) program, and evaluation of teacher performance is now linked directly to student learning and feedback.

Additionally, the district has undertaken the task of surveying students, parents and teachers as part of an effort to gauge the positive nature of school climate in the district and address areas of need.
