Students to Play District-Wide Concert

More than 200 Windsor students will play together tonight at Sage Park.

Not every community is fortunate enough to have maintained their music education programs. With restricted budgets, school districts across the nation have been forced to cut programs such as music and the arts. They are often the first programs to go as they are sometimes viewed as discretionary programs, not programs critical to the core curriculum.

Windsor's music education program has flourished over the years, however. Tonight, over 200 students will show just that in a rare district-wide performance.

The concert only takes place every other year, and this year students from Windsor's public schools will take the stage, instruments in hand. The concert will feature students in grades two through five playing violins, cellos an violas.
