Parents Invited to School Consolidation "Focus Groups" Held Today

Parents are welcome to attend one of two meetings today.

In an effort to make and the implementation of full-day kindergarten programs a smooth process, Windsor Public Schools administrators are making an effort to keep parents informed, and listen to their concerns.

That effort continues today with a pair of focus group meetings that parents of Windsor public schools students are invited to.

“These Focus Groups are part of our Board of Education’s multi-faceted transition plan to smoothly implement our full-day Kindergarten and restructuring of the elementary school facilities,” said Dr. Ernest Perlini, Interim Superintendent of the Windsor Public Schools.

“Parental input about this reorganization is essential and we want to hear from as many people as we can, just as we did during our series of education forums and workshops over the past two years," he added.

The focus groups will be held today from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Oliver Ellsworth School and the L.P. Wilson Community Center. Both groups will be organized in a manner to allow those who are interested in attending to come and go as they wish, according to Windsor Schools representatives. There are no required reservations for the focus groups.

Each focus group will feature "booths or stations" about specific topics concerning the consolidation of elementary schools, school representatives said. At each station, parents will have the opportunity to read about the consolidation and write their opinions, comments, suggestions and concerns down for school officials to consider.
