The Windsor Public Library wants to send you on an educational adventure, and you don’t even have to leave home. The Library has set up access to Universal Class, an on-line educational resource for personal enrichment. From the library homepage click on the Universal Class banner and start your education excursion.
The 156 classes cover topics from New Age Medicine to Money Making Strategies. You can learn the basics of accounting or how to be a better parent and earn Continuing Education Credits for it.
You’ll need your library card number to sign on to the system and select your classes. You have a real, live teacher who is available via e-mail for consultation and assistance. You also have a virtual classroom and classmates who will be taking the course with you. You can start at any time and have six months to complete the course.
Since this is Universal Class, there are students from all over the world participating in the courses. Library Director Gaye Rizzo related the story of a woman in India who had taken a course about Autism and stated in a student forum that she wanted to create a course for people in her country to learn about it. One of her classmates in the US offered to mail her reams of information that woman would be able to share with her Indian students.
During the course, your instructor will review your assignments and update you on your progress. Upon successful completion you’ll be awarded a certificate and credited with your CEUs. And it is free! All you need is your library card.
