Girls Track Eyeing Another Championship

The girls recorded a team win over Wethersfield Tuesday.

The Lady Warriors outdoor track team breezed past Wethersfield at home Tuesday, picking up another win in what they hope will be another championship season.

The usual suspects churned out blue-ribbon performances throughout the meet; Senior Medina Nabadduka easily finished first in the 1600 and 800, while junior Sydnee Over, one of the top sprinters in the country, anchored the 400-meter relay team to vicotry after finishing first in the 300 and 100.

The individual wins were plenty for Windsor Tuesday, and they were expected, according to coach Ron Wilson.

The team is only three meets into its season, but Wilson and his girls, what are the defending state chapions, will use the rest of the season to prepare for the opportunity to add another trophy to the mantel at the high school.

"We beat glastonbury, who will be our toughest competition this season," Wilson said, adding that from here on out, he's pushing his girls to improve their time whenever they set foot on the track.

"At this point, we want them to try for a faster time whenever they are out there. And they are pushed by their teammates," he said.

The Lady Warriors will travel to South Windsor next week, but will return to close out the season with three consecutive home meets against East Hartford, East Catholic and Weaver.
