Quinn Fleeting and Aaron Berardino were responsible for four touchdowns each in the first half of play Saturday night, propelling Windsor to a lopsided 47-20 victory over Bristol Central in its CCC Division II West opener.

At the outset of the first quarter, the game looked to be a potential slugfest. Windsor struck first, putting together a seamless opening drive that culminated with a 31-yard touchdown scamper by junior quarterback Fleeting, the first of his four touchdowns of the half.

Up 7-0, things looked to be going Windsor's way until Bristol Central's Mike Benites took the ensuing kickoff 86 yards for the score.

Benites wasn't touched on the return, which could have sent Windsor reeling, but the Warriors answered on the very next play.

Receiving the kickoff on his own 15, senior Aaron Berardino ran 85 yards for the touchdown and the lead.

"[Teams] barely kick me the ball. When they do, I just need to do something with it," said Berardino, who spent much of the night fielding kicks and punts aimed at avoiding a return.

"When I got [the ball on the kickoff] I knew I had to take it back to the house. I got the blocking, I followed Tres Coyle up the sideline and I was there," he said.

Berardino's return knocked the wind out of Bristol Central and the Rams never recovered. From that point on, Windsor was firing on all cylinders -- Windsor led at halftime, 47-7.

Berardino scored three more times in the first half -- two touchdown catches of 70 and 27 yards from Fleeting, and a 7-yard run.

"He's just spectacular," Windsor Coach Rob Fleeting said of his standout receiver. "We try to find different ways to get him the ball and let him do his thing. He's dynamite. He's just that kind of guy."

Bristol Central (0-2, 0-1) played Berardino straight up for much of the game, choosing not to double him, which allowed him to rack up 102 receiving yards on the night.

Quinn Fleeting also took advantage of the Rams' secondary, connecting on 7 of 11 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns, including a 31-yard pass to Ryan Lumpkin.

Having turned the ball over five times, and committed thirteen penalties for 110 yards last week against Wethersfield, Windsor was a different team Saturday. The Warriors turned the ball over just once, and committed four penalties for 25 yards.

"Coach [Fleeting] told us 'to come out hard, not slack,' and everything came together as a team," said Berardino. "The line played good, Quinn knew what he was doing and everybody was set.

"We saw the [Wethersfield] game, corrected our mistakes... and everything was all good."

"I was very proud of our first group," Fleeting said of his starters. "We came out and put up 47 points right away... I saw everything I wanted to see from our guys. I think they responded well."

Fleeting finished the game having completed 7 of 11 for 204 yards, with 3 passing touchdowns, and rushing 7 times for 67 yards and one score.

Defensively, the Warriors posted another stellar outing. Windsor held Bristol Central to 67 total yards of offense (34 passing, 33 rushing).

The Rams' longest drive came in the third quarter -- a 19-play, 80-yard drive that ate up all but 33 seconds of the quarter, and resulted in a 3-yard touchdown run by Tim White.

Windsor will head back to Muzzy Field on Fri., Sept. 30 to take on Bristol Eastern (0-2).
