Windsor to Elect a New Superintendent of Schools

WINDSOR TO ELECT A NEW SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS AT NOVEMBER 30 SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

WINDSOR, CONN., November 29, 2011 – The Windsor Board of Education will hold a special meeting in order to elect a new Superintendent of Schools on Wednesday, November 30 at 7 p.m. in the Windsor Town Hall Council Chambers at 275 Broad St. The public is invited to attend.

Dr. Ernest L. Perlini has been serving as Interim Superintendent of the Windsor Public Schools since this past spring, when Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth E. Feser left the district after nine years to become Superintendent of the Milford Public Schools (Conn.). The Windsor Board of Education engaged the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) to assist in its search process for a new Superintendent of Schools. James Connelly, an executive search consultant with NESDEC, assisted the Board of Education throughout the search.

As part of the process, the Windsor Board of Education and its search firm, NESDEC, hosted a series of Community Focus Groups designed to obtain participant input about the attributes, experience and knowledge that the new superintendent should possess. These groups also provided an opportunity for participants – community members and educational staff alike – to identify immediate tasks that should be addressed by the new superintendent. In addition, other focus groups took place, including ones specifically for Town officials and school administration and staff.

NESDEC is a non-profit organization whose general purpose is the development of high performance schools throughout the Northeast. NESDEC was founded in 1946 under the auspices of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Today, NESDEC represents approximately 400 cities and towns in New England. NESDEC assists School Boards in filling Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Principal and other educational leadership positions. More than 400 successful searches have been completed by the firm over the past 25 years.
