Timely Topics - Windsor's William Russell House - Its Past, Present and Future

First Church’s 1755 William Russell House on Palisado Green is one of the anchors of Windsor’s historic district.  Built as the minister’s home, it no longer fits the mission of the church and requires significant repairs.   A builder has made the church an offer to move the Russell House out of town.

Historian Bill Hosley will start the program with a Powerpoint  presentation showing the home’s historical significance and why he thinks it should not leave the historic district.  Then hear Rick Huleatt, First Church’s minister, tell about pressures his church and other churches face and why the home has become a burden for the church. A representative from the Town of Windsor will talk about how Windsor’s historic district fits in with future town plans, touching on the historic district’s relationship with the Broad Street Green and with planned new developments in Windsor.

Bring ideas, concerns and suggestions for discussion afterwards.  Cost: $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, WHS members $4.
