John F. Kennedy School "One Moment in Time" Celebration

John F. Kennedy School school invites current and former elementary school students, families and staff to come and celebrate its past, present and future at a special “One Moment in Time” event. All activities are free and will take place at John F. Kennedy School at 530 Park Ave. A reception with cookies and punch begins at 4 p.m., followed by formal welcomes and presentations at 5:30 p.m.

“This August with the start of the new school year, John F. Kennedy School will become an Intermediate School for grades three, four and five, as part of the Windsor Public Schools’ reorganization of its pre-Kindergarten through elementary schools,” explains Tangular A. Irby, Principal of John F. Kennedy School. “This seems like a good time to reminisce about the years since we opened our doors in 1964, before we take this next exciting step forward. People will be able to tour the school and view special projects created by current students. During the 5:30 p.m. presentation, they will have the opportunity to share their memories with the other guests, if they wish.”

Expected to attend are former John F. Kennedy School Principal Warren Logee and Ramona Beckius, wife of the late Principal Art Beckius, according to Kimberly Wood, Vice Principal of the school. “In the coming months, all of Windsor’s elementary schools and Roger Wolcott Early Childhood Center will host special events in anticipation of the town-wide schools reorganization,” says Wood.

The Windsor Public Schools’ reorganization is the result of an intensive two-year community-based process that included a series of education and community forums and workshops. As part of the new structure, Kindergarten will become a full-day program for all students with those classes located at Oliver Ellsworth Primary School and at Poquonock Primary School, depending upon the child’s home address.

  • John F. Kennedy Intermediate School – Grades 3 through Grade 5;
