Getting Beyond the Names and Dates: African-American Family Migration Stories and Sources will take place at the Windsor Historical Society.  

What does a Connecticut Yankee look like? When thinking about Colonial New England families, most picture individuals of European descent. Many fail to recognize the many families of color who lived, worked, and served beside their white counterparts. William Fothergill is an Independent Family Ancestral Historian who also works as a faculty member at Central Connecticut State University. Mr. Fothergill will use his family research to provide a backdrop of the lives of Colonial African-Native Americans in Connecticut. He will explore the journey of independence of his family from the 1680 to 19th century, using the presentation as an opportunity to teach and inspire others to begin their personal journey of ancestral discovery. 

Appropriate for “Who Do You Think You Are?” fans, beginning and more experienced genealogists.
