Book Talk by Joshua Kendall: "The Forgotten Founding Father, Noah Webster's Obsession and the Creation of an American Culture"
This program is jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Historical Society and the Noah Webster House /West Hartford Historical Society. Noah Webster was more than just America’s greatest lexicographer. He was also a Founding Father who helped define American culture. In his new book, author Joshua Kendall argues that Webster was a central figure in creating American nationalism, and took it upon himself to “unite Americans with his words.”
