Town to Put 17 Delinquent Homes Up for Auction

Properties identified have been delinquent for more than three years or owe more than $20,000 in back taxes.

Windsor will put 17 homes up for auction on Sat., June 15 at town hall, according to a statement released by town staff Tuesday.

According to the statement, the tax sale includes properties having been identified as delinquent on tax payments for three or more years or having back taxes amounting to more than $20,000.

Properties going up for sale and associated taxes due include:

1475 Palisado Avenue - $65,142.69
52 Woodland Street - $3,581.70
39 Rood Avenue - $6,981.20
535 Palisado Avenue - $16,860.46
27 Highland Avenue - $10,144.22
1492 Palisado Avenue - $196.91
1530 Palisado Avenue - $39,136.80
55 Lovell Avenue - $8,709.90
525 Park Avenue - $6,899.87

According to town staff all property owners of the identified properties have received notice of the sale from the tax collector's office and they have either not responded or have not paid enough to be excluded from the June auction.

Owners still have an opportunity to redeem their property, however. According to the statement released by town staff, owners can "reimburse the winning bidder the amount that was due to the town of Windsor at the time of the sale (minimum bid), in addition to 18 percent (1.5 percent per month) interest on the total winning bid."

The deadline for property redemption is December 15, 2013.

The sale is scheduled for 10 a.m. in town hall's ludlow room. Bidder registration will begin at 8 a.m.
