Why am I a Republican?

Ron Eleveld explains his Republican affiliation and associated values.

Why am I a Republican? Let me know your thoughts.

I believe in personal responsibility for all.  Individuals and businesses (businesses are just a group of individuals with a common purpose like a union).

I do not believe in handouts!

I do not believe in bailouts!

I do believe in a hand up.

I believe that abortion should not be used as a means of birth control. Ponder this one.

I believe the government should not be borrowing money to pay its bills.

I believe the ultimate crime does deserve the ultimate punishment.

I believe I and all Americans pay our fair share in taxes, already.  If you disagree please send me a check made payable to the IRS so I can add my info and get the credit.  :-)

I do not envy someone else’s success, and do not make light of their misfortunes.

I believe a flat tax is the fairest tax. No deductions for anyone.

I believe dividends should not be doubly taxed like they are at a 50%+ rate.

I believe education should be managed on the State level and more so the local level.

I believe parents should be given the responsibility and opportunity to pick the best schools for their children.

I believe parents, when given an opportunity, will do right
by their children.

I believe I can offer support to those in need more efficiently than the government. It is not perfect, but it is most flexible.

I believe a free market is best able to deliver the goods and services we need, in the most efficient method possible.

I believe we need to take responsibility for ourselves.

I believe the Republican party imperfectly stands for Equalization of Opportunities, and the Democratic party stands for Equalization of Outcome.

I believe we are imbued with certain abilities that are different for all of us.

I believe my mind is my most valuable asset. The government can not empower me with something I was not born with.

I believe the Government can’t and SHOULD not give me something I have not earned. To do so hurts more people than it helps.

I believe an unfettered free market allowed to work efficiently will create a rising tide that, when taken at the flood, will lead onto fortune for all of us.

I believe the rich are paying their fair share as required by law.

I believe in the Equalization of Opportunities and am opposed to the Equalization of Outcomes.

I believe giving a handout hurts more than offering a hand out which benefits any.  I think when we equalize the results we benefit only the few friends of the politicians, hurting most of us.

Do I always agree with my party? NO!

I am not always a good Republican, I would be a worse Democrat, and I make a poor politician — I have not yet learned to lie, but I am working on that [Said with a laugh and a smile. :-)]

This is the underlying difference in the political parties.  Are they both at times in the Outcome and/or Opportunity camps?  The Republican philosophy is more so in the camp of less government and equalization of opportunities.

The Democratic philosophy is more so in the camp of Government can protect all, and equalization of outcomes.

If you agree with the majority of what I said, then you too are a Republican and should stand with me to get our society back on track!  Join me at WindsorRepublicans.com or Windsor Republicans on FaceBook.
