Your Chance to Improve Your Neighborhood

The folks at town hall have introduced a new tool for residents who spot potholes, graffiti,

You've been wondering for months when someone from town hall will take note of and possibly fix the pothole that sits in the path into your driveway. That concern only comes second to the anxiety caused by cars racing down your street, and you're wondering if town officials will ever construct a speed bump or two to slow things down.

The wait is over.

Monday night, the town of Windsor officially presented SeeClickFix, a social media tool giving residents direct access to town officials charged with maintaining roads, lights, blight and more.

SeeClickFix, a self-described "platform for neighbors who want to fix up their neighborhoods" can be accessed on the town website, and residents can relay non-emergency issues to town personnel, letting them know exactly what's wrong and exactly where the problem is located with a few clicks of a mouse.

The program provides users with a local, interactive map, on which residents can zoom in on every street in town, and select from 22 categories of problems, which run the gamut from graffiti and speeding to dead animals, broken stop lights and blight.

Once a SeeClickFix service request has been completed, the message will be delivered to the appropriate town staff member, according to the town website.

Founded by New Haven native Ben Berkowitz, SeeClickFix is used by towns nationwide, and have helped draw attention to issues greatly affecting quality of life that would otherwise go unnoticed or remain off the town's list of priorities.

The program, which can also be accessed through a mobile app, is even helping folks receive assistance when snowed-in or exposed to dangerously-low temperatures.
