Yagaloff Seeks Probate Seat as Independent

The South Windsor attorney says he'll be on the special election ballot for Probate Judge as an independent.

While Kevin McCann picked up republicans' nomination to run for Greater Windsor Probate Judge back in April, South Windsor attorney Keith Yagaloff recently announced he'll be on the special election ticket in August.

Yagaloff, who campaigned for the democratic party's support, will run as an independent candidate, and he's collected the necessary signatures to do so.

"I think the Probate Judge should be non-political and committed to fairly and evenhandedly representing everyone who comes before the court," said Yagaloff.

"Unfortunately, the political insiders from South Windsor are in a battle for control with the insiders from Windsor," he added.

Running as an independent, Yagaloff said, will "allow me to distance myself form the political infighting and focus on my qualifications as an experienced attorney who has represented clients in family and probate cases for over a decade."

Yagaloff, who claims local politicians are attempting to put their friends in office, say voters want someone in office who "is not beholden to the interests of party insiders."

In the August 21 special election, Yagaloff will face McCann and either Marianne Lassman-Fisher (D) or Windsor's Jim Welsh (D).
