Windsor School Board Elects New President

Board of education and town council members were sworn in, and Don Trinks was officially re-elected as mayor of Windsor.

The Windsor board of education unanimously voted to name Cristina Santos (R) president of the board Tuesday night.

Santos received the most votes among school board candidates in Windsor's recent municipal election.

The board also voted to name Paul Panos (R) vice president, Melissa Rizzo Holmes (R) secretary and Darlene Klase was named minority leader.

Windsor's former board of education president, Doreen Richardson, was in attendance for the swearing in ceremony, and addressed the new board Tuesday, offering congratulations and some advice to those elected.

"I just want to wish you all the best you could possibly accomplish as board of education members," she said.

"It's important you understand you do make a difference. How you lead, how you govern... will shape the kinds of opportunities our children have. It will determine whether or not, at the end of your term, we are still an alliance district or we are an example of excellence for the state and the nation."

The Windsor town council also held its swearing in ceremony, marking the seating of the thirty-fourth town council since Windsor's town charter was passed nearly seven decades ago.

Don Trinks (D) was unanimously voted to continue his service as mayor, and Jody Terranova (D), who is beginning her second term on the council, was voted to serve as deputy mayor.

The town council will meet next on Mon., Nov. 18.
