With the 2013 municipal elections just four months away, and the ballot is taking shape, as the Windsor Republican Town Committee (RTC) announced its candidate slate Wednesday morning.
"We believe we have an excellent slate of candidates with Windsor’s best interest at heart with capabilities to make a real difference for the future," said Sonya Dean, chair of the Republicans' nominating committee.
This year's slate marks a new era for Republican public service; it includes just four incumbents.
Town councilman Donald Jepsen is the only sitting Republican council member on the 2013 slate.
Minority Leader Paul Panos and Cristina Santos are the only sotting Republican board of education members on the slate.
According to RTC Chair Ronald Eleveld, the party's slate will give voters the opportunity to move Windsor in the right direction.
“In November the voters have a real choice. They may choose to change how Windsor is governed for our future, and for the future of our kids, or they can choose to continue the difficulties and failed approaches of the past. This November will be an opportunity to make a real difference," he said.
The RTC's full slate is as follows (asterisk denotes incumbent member):
Town Council
Donald Jepsen*, James Govoni, John Gamache, Nathan Scharoff, Ken Wilkos
Board of Education
Paul Panos*, Cristina Santos*, Michaela Fissel, Melissa Rizzo Holmes, Ronald Eleveld
