Windsor Power Restoration Update

With 20 tree and line crews in town, Windsor is creeping its way to full restoration.

While CL&P estimated that power will be fully restored in Windsor by 11:59 p.m. on Sun., Nov. 2, news on the ground in town is far more optimistic.

The utility reported that towns would be given two tree and line crews earlier this week, but 20 crews are on the ground in Windsor as of Wednesday. As a result, portions of town have begun to roar back to life.

According to the Windsor Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Matianuck Avenue, King's Landing, West Wolcott Avenue, Rood Avenue, Pine Lane, Parish Avenue, Windsor Avenue and some of Park Avenue have all had power restored.

"I think we'll have larger portions of town restored before Sunday," said an optimistic Town Manager Peter Souza on Wednesday.

The hard part, Souza added, will be restoring power to smaller streets adjacent to major areas, noting that residents may get frustrated as they see lights on down the street or around the corner, but remain without power themselves.

That means roads like Plymouth Street, which suffered extensive damage to its power lines. Unlike Plymouth, most roads will only require lines to be repaired, rather than completely replaced.

As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, CL&P's outage map reports that Windsor remains 95 percent without power.

Each day since Last Saturday's snow storm, businesses in town have been opening doors to customers in need, one by one.

While Windsor 75 Diner was the only spot in town to get a hot meal on Sunday morning, five restaurants were open for business (some with limited menus) on Wednesday.
