Windsor Man to Lead Affordable-Energy Hunt

Jeffrey Gaudiosi was hired as the state's first energy procurement manager.

Windsor's Jeffrey Gaudiosi has been hired by the state to find and secure affordable and clean energy for residential and business use throughout Connecticut.

The position, eneryg procurement manager, is the first in the state's history, as the responsibility to find clean and cheap energy used to rest on the shoulders of Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating.

According to the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Gaudiosi's work will lead to lower electricity rates throughout the state.

DEEP Commissioner Daniel C. Esty said Thursday, "With Jeff Gaudiosi coming on board we continue to ‘ramp up’ Connecticut’s leading edge approach to energy, which will drive down costs, improve our economy and help us capture environmental benefits."

“Accomplishing these goals will meet the priorities of the Malloy Administration and the requirements of last year’s comprehensive energy legislation, Public Act 11-80."

Public Act 11-80 lays out the establishment of DEEP and future plans for Connecticut's use of cleaner and more-affordable energy.

The 39-year-old Gaudiosi will begin his post at DEEP on February 10. He is currently the vice president of the Waterbury-based Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut, and has worked in that capacity, since 1997, "developed expertise on energy procurement issues," according to DEEP.

Gaudiosi has been at the forefront of state-wide energy initiatives for over a devade, serving as the president and vice president of the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, and as chairman and vice chairman of the Connecticut Energy Advisory Board.
