Windsor Locks High School Pool, School Security Subject of Town Meeting Tuesday

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Town Hall.

The following information was provided by the town of Windsor Locks:

On Tuesday evening, residents of Windsor Locks will be asked to consider whether to spend $332,938 for upgrades to the high school pool and appropriate $100,000 to make upgrades to the town school security systems.

The public hearing and town meeting, which will take place at the Town Hall, will adjourn to a town-wide referendum scheduled for Feb. 5, at which time voters will decide the fate of the school pool question. Voters will act tonight on the issue of appropriating money for school security measures.

Below is more information on the issues to be discussed, according to a town notice for the meeting.

1. To consider a resolution to appropriate $332,938.00 for the following Windsor Locks High School Pool Projects:

a. Additional costs associated with the High School Pool Roof Replacement Renovation (estimated cost $13,395.00)

b. Pool Piping & Proper, additional costs associated with Pool Steam Piping Materials & installation, and Pool Steam Asbestos Abatement (estimated cost $177,977.00)

c. Equipment & installation of Benches and Lockers in both Pool Locker Rooms, replace Locker Room Doors, Pool Ceiling Acoustics, replace Pool Spectator Floor, and replace Pool Lobby Heater (estimated cost $141,566.00) 

2. To introduce, discuss and act upon a resolution to appropriate $100,000.00 from the Unallocated Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Account to the Board of Education Security Enhancement Account for upgrades to the Windsor Locks Schools Security Systems, as recommended by the Board of Finance.
