Town Officials: Beware of Driveway Pavers

Driveway pavers may not always have your best interests at heart.

Windsor town officials are warning people about driveway paving crews that may seek to cheat you out of your money.

Following the winter months, it's not uncommon for driveway paving crews' business to pickup as residents seek to repair pavement damage caused by salt and shoveling. According to a recently released announcement from Town Hall, it's not uncommon for many of the crews to be unlicensed.

"They often prey on the elderly and homeowners with limited knowledge of correct driveway construction, and disregard local and state regulations," the memo said.

The memo added that unlicensed crews often use "inferior materials and improper equipment that result in an unsafe, finished product."

According to town officials, Windsor residents should look for the following clues that may let you know if a contractor is unlicensed:

  • Unmarked dump trucks
  • No paving box on site
  • Material is placed by hand, and smoothed without the use of a roller
  • Working in the evening or on the weekend
