Preliminary cost estimates project that the project will carry a $2.7 million price tag — an amount that does not include emergency repairs and emergency asbestos removal, both of which have been completed to date.

Town officials are "optimistic insurance proceeds will cover the majority of the project costs," town documents say.

Monday, the council will vote to appropriate $200,000 to be used specifically for engineering and design services during the reconstruction of the roof and auditorium interior.

Agenda items of note:

  • The council will take action on the agreement between Windsor Public Schools and the Windsor Schools Administrators' and Supervisors' Association to provide benefit and salary changes.
  • The council will vote to appoint Malvi Lennon to the insurance commission. Lennon's appointment was shot down by council democrats in August 2011 based on what Deputy Mayor Al Simon and council member Bill Herzfeld said were concerns about Lennon's respect for council rules with regard to majority in votes.
  • Former republican town council member Ron Eleveld will be considered for appointment as an alternate member to the Town Planning and Zoning Commission.

Tonight's meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall Council Chambers.
