Windsor Democrats have endorsed Jim Welsh, the only Windsor candidate running for the position, which was vacated upon the death of former Probate Judge Brian Griffin.

Windsor Democratic Town Committee Chair Leo Canty called Welsh "a highly qualified individual with a strong commitment and passion to serve in the Probate position."

The Windsor Dems also announced they will be donating $2,000 to Welsh's campaign in the race, which is democrat heavy.

Welsh is the only candidate who is a Windsor native.

Windsor's Republican Town Committee has yet to officially endorse a candidate; however Kevin McCann is the only republican candidate registered in the race.

Republican Town Committee Chair Ron Eleveld said "Mr. McCann's experience in practicing Estate and Trust Law is essential and extremely beneficial to understanding the issues and being able to work with those who appear before the Probate Court."

"His decades of community involvement and pro bono work have provided him with the knowledge and expertise needed to work with and understand the needs of all our citizens," Eleveld added.

A primary election has been set for June 26, with a special election has been scheduled for August 21.
