Three Windsor Nonprofits Awarded Over $900,000 in State Grants

Windsor nonprofits among 84 organizations splitting $20 million in grant funding.

Three Windsor organizations were awarded a total of $901,000 in funding for several projects under the state 2014 Nonprofit Grant Program.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Thursday that 146 projects with 84 organizations have been selected to receive a total of $20 million in awards.

In Windsor, the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut was awarded a $49,000 grant for IT upgrades; Easter Seals Capital Region and Eastern Connecticut will receive $452,000 for vehicles; and Vinfen Corporation of Connecticut will get $400,000 for site improvements ($110,000) and renovations ($290,000).

“Partnering with these organizations is a smart fiscal investment to ensure that these agencies can continue to provide services while doing so in an efficient, cost-effective way,” Malloy said during his announcement at Chrysalis Center, a provider agency slated to received funding to provide job training, employment services and conference space.

“This is the largest commitment our state has made to support and invest in these community-based organizations that provide critical services to individuals in every city and town in our state.”
