New Law Could Bring $200K to Windsor

A telecommunications bill signed into law could create more than $200,000 in town revenue.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy put his signature on a bill that could create more than $200,000 in additional revenue to Windsor in the upcoming fiscal year.

The new law, known as Public Act 11-1, will allow municipalities to receive a portion of property taxes paid by telecommunications companies, according to a statement released by the Connecticut Senate Democrats Caucus.

“In this difficult economy, our cities and towns can use all the help they can get when it comes to managing their finances," said Senator Eric Coleman (D - Windsor, Bloomfield and Hartford).

"It will grant municipalities added flexibility in choosing how best to meet the needs of their residents,” he added.

Windsor could potentially gain $211,000. Hartford will stand to gain just over $40,000, while Bloomfield could bring in more than $10,000.
