Long Summer of Road Repair Begins on Windsor's Rt. 159

A portion of Windsor Avenue was reduced to three lanes Tuesday as State Department of Transportation (DOT) workers began an extensive overhaul of Rt. 159.

According to Town Manager Peter Souza, the DOT plans to repave Rt. 159 from Windsor Center to Rt. 218.

Rt. 159 is owned by the state.

Workers are currently replacing or servicing existing storm water catch basins, which is a step of preparation before paving begins, Souza said.

While there is no timeline detailing when work will be completed, Souza said much of the milling, the heaviest of the work, will be done in mid-to-late summer.

In addition to Rt. 159, Souza said DOT workers plan to partially repave roads that are owned by the town -- roads like Orchard Road.
