High School Auditorium's Roof Set for December 2012 Completion

A referendum will be scheduled to approve financing.

According to Public Buildin Commission Chair Joe Novak, architectural drawings for the replacement of 's auditorium roof structure have been approved.

Architectural plans include few aesthetic improvements, Novak told Town Council members on Dec. 19. The commission's intent, Novak said, was to replace the structure with an improved weight limit, and stronger welds.

Novak said in June 2011 that it was discovered that welds throughout the auditorium were found to be incomplete.

The total cost of the project will be just over $3.1 million, according to Novak.

The town anticipates that Traveler's Insurance, will reimburse the bulk of that money back to the town.

While the town will be reimbursed for much of it, initial financing on the town's behalf will be required, and a referendum will be held in accordance.

No date for the referendum has been released.

The referendum will allow residents to approve the amount needed for the structure's replacement. 

The referendum will also cause the project's completion date to be pushed back form September 2012 to December 7, 2012.

An invitation to bid on the project has been released. The town will hold a pre-bid walk through on Wed., Jan. 4, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the auditorium.
