Government Leaders to be Elected Tonight

Don Trinks received the most votes in the 2011 municipal election.

The town council will elect a number of positions Monday night during a special town council meeting, including mayor and deputy mayor.

Traditionally, the individual with the most votes in the municipal election is nominated and elected to be mayor. Don Trinks, who has served as mayor since 2001 and has sat on the council since 1995, received the most votes in 2011's election.

Other positions that will be appointed include the clerk of the council, standing committees, the town attorney and the town treasurer.

The town council will have a couple of new faces. Filling the seats of Matthew Marci (D) and Ron Eleveld (R) will be Jody Terranova and Lisa Boccia, respectively.

In addition to electing government leaders, the council will vote to appropriate $290,000 from the town's undesignated fund for use in covering inistial storm debris-removal costs.

Total costs are currently estimated to be between $350,000 - $500,000.
