Fifth District Convention Held Tonight

The democratic convention to elect a nominee for the re-aligned fifth assembly district will be held tonight at L.P. Wilson.

For the first time in decades, . For Windsor politicians, their best shot since the 80's to represent their fellow residents is now, and years of work to restore the possibility of having a Windsor resident represent Windsor will reach a key milestone Tuesday night when the democratic convention will be held at L.P. Wilson.

Democratic delegates will cast their votes to elect the parties nominee to run for the House seat, which is open after Deputy Speaker of the House Marie Lopez Kirkley-Bey retired from the House.

A nine-member reapportionment commission went to work in April 2011 to redraw voting lines, this time taking the northern border of what was Hartford's fifth district, and extending it far into Windsor.
